Gas Cooled Roots Booster Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump System

Gas Cooled Roots Booster Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump System
Details:
A gas cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum pump system is a liquid ring vacuum pumping system that uses a liquid ring vacuum pump as the backing pump and a gas-cooled Roots vacuum pump as the booster pump. Compared with a normal Roots booster liquid ring vacuum system, it delivers a shorter pump-down time; compared with a liquid ring vacuum pump operating on its own, it consumes less energy. It covers a wide operating pressure range and can handle gases containing small amounts of liquid.

Features of the Gas Cooled Roots Booster Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump System

Reduced Pump-Down Time

In a gas cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum pump system, the gas cooled Roots pump serves as the main pumping stage. A single-stage gas-cooled Roots pump can operate in the low vacuum range (above 50kPa) and can withstand a higher pressure differential between the inlet and the outlet than a conventional Roots pump. It is precisely because of these two characteristics that it can join the pumping duty without waiting for the water ring pump to reach a very low pressure, and the pump-down time is therefore shorter than that of a conventional Roots liquid ring system.

The gas-cooled Roots vacuum pump can be started together with the liquid ring vacuum pump, but it runs at low speed during start-up. The reason is that, when combined with a backing pump, the gas-cooled Roots pump works primarily as a booster, so the motor specified for it is not oversized; running at a very high speed could burn the motor out.

Handles Gas Entrained with Small Amounts of Liquid

Because a gas-cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum system uses a liquid ring vacuum pump as the backing pump, and because a Roots pump can handle gas containing small amounts of liquid droplets, this system is well suited to duties where the gas carries a small amount of entrained liquid. If the gas carries a relatively large amount of liquid, a cyclone separator can be installed upstream of the system inlet to remove liquid and dust, which protects the system and extends its service life.

Wide Inlet Pressure Range

In addition to operating in the medium vacuum range in the same way as a conventional Roots liquid ring vacuum system, a gas-cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum system can also operate at low vacuum levels. Suppose the system inlet pressure is 6000Pa, the compression ratio between the Roots pump and the water ring pump is 3:1, and the cooling water of the water ring pump is at 15℃. The pressure differential that the Roots pump has to withstand is then approximately 15300Pa. A normal Roots vacuum pump cannot withstand such a large pressure differential; in this case a gas-cooled Roots vacuum pump must be selected as the booster.

Better Suited to Customized Duty Conditions

A gas-cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum system uses a gas-cooled Roots vacuum pump as the main pumping stage. Since the gas-cooled pump covers a wider operating pressure range, different duty conditions and different stage combinations require different motors, even when the same gas-cooled pump is selected.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When should a gas cooled Roots booster vacuum system be selected, and when should a normal Roots vacuum system be selected?

A: If the pump inlet pressure remains above 2000Pa for extended periods - for example at 3000Pa - a gas-cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum pump gives a longer service life than a normal Roots liquid ring vacuum system.

Q: How is the motor power of the gas cooled Roots vacuum pump in a gas cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum system determined?

A: The gas cooled Roots vacuum pump is driven by a variable-frequency motor. The motor power rating to be specified depends on your actual duty conditions: inlet pressure, discharge pressure, process medium and gas throughput.

Q: How can I determine whether my duty conditions suit a gas-cooled Roots liquid ring vacuum system?

A: We need to know your gas composition, gas flow rate, operating pressure, discharge pressure and the on-site cooling water conditions.

Q: How is this system operated?

A: If you require it, we can prepare a set of operating instructions based on your system configuration to help you operate the unit.

Q: Is there a technical data sheet available for reference?

A: The technical specifications of the JZJQ2B gas-cooled roots booster liquid ring vacuum pump system can refer to those of the JZJ2B.
